I got one for you. We planned a trip to Disney with our young son. My husband mentioned his two sisters and their families joining us. I told him spending time at the parks was fine but they weren’t going to stay with us. I said that I would tell them, if he could not. I was very clear about the boundaries on a joined vacation because his family always brings chaos and drama. He said he would tell them. Once at Disney we met at the park and my young son was exhausted by early evening. I said I would take him back to our accommodation and get dinner on our own. Later that evening a few of the in-laws showed up at the door, with luggage in hand. My husband never told them they couldn’t stay with us. Six people and 2 infants were planning on crashing on the floor in our room! I thought I was going to have a stroke! I stuck to my guns but the vacation was ruined. This was one of the many reasons for my divorce after 25 years of this mistreatment. I’ve never been happier.

also IF this is something the boyfriend has done annually and op JOINED. that tradition, and pays for it himself primarily, she needs to simply accept that she is not his entire life he has family as well though it's uncool not to have a conversation, it's really not unreasonable to want a vacation with his daughter and brother and their partners. of course that requires us to operate on the assumption that it was his annual vacation that she had been included in
that said it did sound like this is very special alone time for her so if she communicated that she needs some of that alone time some sort of arrangements that provide her to have some time alone together should be a fair compromise in my opinion also I see no point in approaching him as an opposition from the beginning it's much much more productive to find a fair compromise and express oneself openly and vulnerably and hold space for his rights to have time also WITH HIS DAUGHTER AND BROTHER if this is his only vacation share or stay out of it that's my opinion

When my ex husband and I were dating he put me in a situation where he put me in a situation he knew I didn’t want to be in because he disagreed with my point of view and thought I would just go along with it if he did what he wanted. Not dumping him after that event is the biggest regret of my life.

My Husband doesn’t book not a single trip except if it’s something for my birthday. I choose everything, but I do show him the hotels, Airbnb and etc before I pay for a thing so he’s not blind sided. We also don’t travel with other people. I have gone a few places with my girlfriend and she’s traveled with us once, but that’s limited too. I’m the planner and only want to do what I want and or my Husband and daughter. I’m not budging for anyone else.

I wouldn’t go. He can enjoy the trip with his people and I’d consider that out break-up.

I don't understand why she wouldn't just talk to her boyfriend as soon as she found out he invited other people? Instead she comes to the internet to ask what to do. Don't people communicate anymore? If my husband does something that upsets me I tell him and we fix it, thats part of being in a healthy relationship.

Ask him when he’s taking you on a couple vacation.

Many women take the lead on planning (and project managing) everything, including considering others’ preferences & we’re really good at it. When the male in the relationship gets an idea to try to plan something (surprise or otherwise), I know I’ve struggled with dissatisfaction. I become frustrated because they don’t typically help, but also because their “help” usually causes more chaos and disappointment than it’s worth. It feels like a no-win situation: we either have to take charge or ultimately be disappointed 💔

So this is no longer her vacation with her boyfriend. It is her boyfriend's trip with two other couples. Uninvite yourself and tell the boyfriend to reschedule the getaway with just you two. Pull out any funding you put into this or make it clear to your boyfriend that he owes you the money and you expect him to get it from the other two couples and pay you back.

No way. I would be livid. Especially his family. I just know they are gonna expect other people to cook and clean up. He had no right to invite anyone without consulting you. When was he going to tell you? On the way there? Or when they just showed up? Red flag. 🚩 I’m out. Have a good time.

i would tell him he was wrong to invite 4 other people and not discuss it with you, this isn't the relaxing trip you were looking forward to. I'd listen to his answer and depending on what he says i'd more than likely tell him i won't be going. I'd plan to stay home and chillax, maybe book a few spa days etc.

No mention in her post of who is paying for what. If the boyfriend is paying the whole tab, he may feel he has the right to decide all the details. If they normally split costs on their shared vacation for two, does he still expect her to contribute? What about the other couples? Are they paying their share? The dynamics are complicated.

This is why ladies you get married and you dont move in with someone without being married . Sorry to sound old fashioned but just a girlfriend or boyfriend there is not the commitment and things go south fast .
