He then allegedly asked to speak to some of the managers. He allegedly produced a firearm and opened fire inside the supermarket’s offices. All three female managers died at the scene. Police response The suspect reportedly fled immediately, and a manhunt is underway. Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, confirmed that police are investigating the triple murder. Police have appealed for information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest. Early unconfirmed social media reports feared a higher toll, but police confirmed three deaths. Police have not officially confirmed the victims’ identities or job titles. Police were also probing a separate shooting in KwaMsane the same day, in which three women were allegedly shot by an off-duty officer. Online reaction Report from people claiming to be former retail employees have sparked a wider discussion about how retail workers are treated.
