@justme.findingmyself: First — I do like the new measures for parents and kids. Great start. Really. And congrats to her — three kids, runs a tuition centre, 80% female team. She raised are real concerns. Manpower gaps. Costs beyond salary reimbursement. The risk that parents become less hireable. All real. But let me ask the real question. Will 6 additional days of childcare leave move Singapore’s TFR ? Will people start rushing to give birth? Probably not. Because the deeper issues haven’t moved. Cost of living. Housing. Job security. Childcare costs. Those are the real reasons people aren’t having children. And here’s what I believe about most employees — right or wrong — they want to do their best at work. 6 additional days isn’t going to have them planning night trains or love boat cruises. They’ll use it when they genuinely need it. I’ve had employees in road accidents. Months of hospitalisation leave. Personal crises. Family emergencies. I’ve run million dollar and billion dollar projects through all of it. It’s not easy being a working adult. It’s not easy being a boss. But you can’t triple down on every negative that might never happen. Real leaders make things work. #fyp #foryou #foryourpage #tiktok #singapore
sme workplace and bosses r usually toxic. family runned. will only be supported when u r their family member.

if 6 more days of maternity leave will break your company I don't think it is the policy issue tbh.

You are spot on.. and I wonder why PM Wong ain’t targeting the right issues.. our ruling govt seems to be assuming what we think but we have feedback the biggest challenge is really rising cost of living.. one more mouth to feed and it’s not short term.. it’s for 20+ years..

Same as liability for men doing NS reservists, CPF contribution, quietly break the law and cash back the the company, this extra leaves will simply give employers another reason not to employ Singapore but give other stupid excuses.

no one can solve this problem once a country is developed. SG is not the only country facing low birth rate.

This policy is good if u already have kids, we may able to take some off to help kids for exam especially psle, will it be a factor to make babies, honest I don think so, the rising cost of living and commitment to bring up kids is not really look after..:

Totally agreed. It's not about the amount of leave. If u really care about your kids, definitely will be able to make arrangements. It's the future that we worry about. Is there a future for our kids? Can they afford housing? is there a job for them to sustain their living? All parents want the best for kids but with so many uncertainty n so many ppl relying on vouchers just sustain their living, who won't be afraid.

to be fair, the current political and economic climate are far from ideals to raise children.. the prospective parents are likely to experience burn-outs just to survive themselves.. the pressure cooker education system is not helping either ..these trends are happening almost globally unfortunately

Need people to cover classes? Hire undergrads as interns or part timers. As bosses , get to cover the classes and work. As students get money and experience

Sg parents already feel stress working to make ends meet due to high cost of living. So afraid to plan for new babies. The grants simply can’t help much.

should work on the Singles. Make housing affordable for Singles to kickstart their journey to home ownership and probably being able to start a family earlier.

Becareful of what you all Singaporens wishes for. On the outside it's seem the Gov listen and do on what you request. But lets be real, companies will dive into their for operation P&L and ended up hiring more committed foreigner. More levies collected and more chances for foreigner becoming from PR to New Citizens, meaning more votes they gain. They're more than happy to stay in Power.
