@raisingkidsbetter: You don't need to remove screens forever. You need 7 rules for 30 days, held without exception, so his baseline resets before school does it for you. If you’re a parent struggling with moments like this, I actually have a whole section on it in my ebook. Practical discipline without constant yelling. It’s on my profile. #parentinghacks #mom #kids

To be honest, limiting screen time just for the sake of it, especially in a world that is becoming more and more digital, feels like an outdated mentality (in my opinion, of course, before people come at me with pitchforks and torches). The real challenge is teaching values. If we are having dinner as a family, there are no screens. Not because they are forbidden, but because family time is valuable. And yes, with small children, that will most likely need to start with simply forbidding them. Then again, on a rainy day, what is the issue with allowing more screen time? Again, as long as we never forget values and responsibilities such as homework, family time, etc. More than simply limiting screen time, it is important to be aware of how screens are being used, especially when it comes to communication with strangers. “Playing without screens is important.” I totally agree. But then again, in a world that is becoming increasingly digital, screen time is also important, especially when it comes to learning how to use technology properly and responsibly.

My son is 6 he grows with zero screen time and we don’t have to explain, the rules are similar to what you pointed out , we just started from day one, he has so many things to do and wildest imagination as all kids do, if we let them be. Good for you, hopefully more ppl

would have ruined my life . I was nine when I built my PC with garage sale PC parts in 2004. I learned a lot with technology. instead of eliminating it. monitor and guide. and teach. reading is also very important. encourage researching constructive topics and monitor it.

That's not detox 😂 my kids no phones, no computer, no tablet. Control ower tv shows and cartoons, 30minutes in the morning, no tv in the evening only books reading. With meal all family sitting at the table no one ever even think abot any screen that's our family time to talk and enjoy the food. We're balkans. We live diferent.

And then there’s my son. He’s 9 years old too, and he’s only allowed to watch 1–2 episodes on weekends and play Switch for 45 minutes on Fridays. 😄

if theres no screen time between 8am-5pm and then none during dinner, I mean I dont see where youre getting time to do screen time 😅 I wouldnt want my kid trying to get on their tablet before 8am and its not good to do it shortly before bed either. my kids get up to 2 hours of screen time between the hours of 10am-6pm

zero screen time untill they are 13 ... apart from TV, allowed after 6.30 pm, but no internet on it. Liam is 11, plays football and chess, Emma is 13, she sings and loves reading... no detox needed

I grew up with iPad and tv and YouTube and was never addicted I was always outside if it wasn’t raining it didn’t matter if it’s cold or hot. So why are parents having to deal with this now. I was homeschooled as well and had another friend that was to we would go outside in the afternoon during the school year then when summer hit we would go to the pool.

How I detoxed my kid after their dad parented by screens & they couldn’t do ANYTHING without them…. turned off the internet. Bought a DVD player from goodwill and let them pick out DVDs from there weekly to watch. They became so present. They ate without them. They were falling asleep without them. They stopped throwing tantrums. They ate more. They played more. They became kids again. A year later and we got internet back. They now get an hour a day no exceptions.

I detoxed my son from the screen and it was 3 months of melt downs. it was also 3 months of him being outside, being more brave, wanting to do physical activity. so worth it.
