@hanncraftedcookies: There are no right or wrong ways to flood sugar cookies, just different methods! In the past I've demonstrated my favorite way to flood, but today I want to show another technique that's just as effective and more beginner friendly. Start by outlining your cookie with an outline consistency royal icing. Then start flooding the cookie, making sure to leave a gap between the outline and flood. Use a scribe or tooth pick to gently drag the flood icing so it meets the outline. A swirling motion works best for me! Keep manipulating the icing until there are no gaps and the icing has settled flat. Pro tip: Use more icing while you flood if your consistency is thicker, and use less if it's thinner. Thinner icing will spread more, so if you use too much you run the risk of it spilling over the sides of your cookie. Which flooding technique do you prefer? . . . #royalicing #sugarcookies #cookiedecorating #cookieart #satisfying
Definitely prefer this method. It helps prevent overflow.

All the research I’ve done, you’re the first that says todo this, everyone has said do not do this, you barely want to see any cookie before using the scoring to spread out the icing. So interesting how everybody has their own different techniques, and what works for them!
