They decide to test him by betting $3,000 that he couldn't sell a car to a random customer they point out. What the new salesman doesn't know is that the customer is actually the owner of the dealership. Instead of getting nervous or overthinking it, he simply does what he knows how to do. He understands the product, understands the customer, and knows how to sell. By the end, he manages to close the deal, completely turning the setup against the three salesmen who were trying to make him fail.
