whoever you spoke to is mistaken. I previously worked at a CDJR dealer for 10 yrs mostly on rams and ive probably installed that kit on over 100 trucks. that kit is compatible with all 1500s the issue is its a special part number that is part of a service bulletin so it will not show up in the mopar parts catalog attached to any specific vin

10 year Chrysler Dealership Shop Foreman here 👋 The kit will work but the recall was just on Durango and grand Cherokee. The ram did not have that recall but we do use these same relays for other models not listed under recall just not under warranty without area rep approval. We install them on CHP chargers often otherwise it’s a complete body harness due to rear TIPM not being able to service separately from harness.

Dodge wants you to buy a tpim if you are paying for it and if they are paying for it, it is just a relay. Greed, they make more money selling a tpim

sad because the TIPM was made for "less" wires but low and behold !, It is poor engineering so you have to add separate relays which adds more wires!😂 but its all has to do with greed 💯% Pick and chose or dealer is to busy so they tell ya what you don't want to hear 👌

I'm open to me wrong but my thought process is this is a liability thing for Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram. the reason I say that is more than likely they built that recall for a very small specific number of vehicles that fit within that recall and they don't want to do it for any other vehicle outside of that recall because then it would cost them more money or they would have to admit that the recall affects more vehicles than they initially anticipated.

How can you not know the answer to your own question of the external relay will work under recall but not if the customer wants one? One word answer that’s so obvious: MONEY !! How much more money does a tipm cost compared to the external relay ??

I have some parts guys that won't order a front license plate bracket because it doesn't show that it is compatible to the vin (because it didn't come with it from factory). It drives me insane.

The answer is simple. It’s a money grab for the dealership to charge more for the TIPM instead of offering the external relay. Dealerships are scams 💯

We need to stop paying $80 to $100k for a $45k truck. They are making money hand and foot from us. Cars same thing. (Yes I understand said vehicle is a2012). However the products delivered today are still junk

Durango's grand Cherokees, Dodge grand caravans all of those we would just wire a relay alongside the tipm at the dealer. we did not replace the tipm. There was a ton of recalls along with technical service bulletins, an extended warranty and extended coverage. Just put a relay alongside the tips. and label it

Been doing that repair on Dodge and Chrysler for years because the relay is integrated into the tip and the relay goes bad so I just run an external relay for the fuel pump
