@lisa.divass: After four years together, she expected her boyfriend to stand beside her as she said goodbye to her mum. He refused because he doesn’t like funerals, leaving her to face one of the hardest days of her life without him. Was she wrong to end the relationship? #AITA #RelationshipDrama #Grief #FuneralDrama #Couples
Everyone hates funerals, but we pull ourselves together and go anyway.

Who TF likes a funeral? My bf was a pull bearer for my mums funeral. Being there for you would have been the bear minimum

So, all I hear is that if you ever marry him, he’ll be there for the ‘better’ but not for the ‘worst’

You were absolutely right! My ex wouldn't come to the hospital with me while I was having a late miscarriage with our twin boys because he didn't like hospitals.

My sisters BF did something similar. Didn't see her from mums death but did turn up for the funeral. 3 weeks without seeing him or showing her any support. We got through the funeral together, she dumped him a few weeks later. If you can't support the person you love at their lowest point then you dont their love.

100% right to end it. He revealed a level of selfishness that I’d not be able to look past.

Nobody likes funerals & he should have been there to support you. Would he not go to his own parents funerals cos he dislikes funerals?

not wrong at all in my opinion. being uncomfortable is actually part of life. we really need to start normalising that sometimes we will have to inconvenience ourselves.

My condolences for the loss of your mom. Peace, Love and Light. And as far as the BF is concerned, we all have to do things unpleasant. His boundary was also HIS test. He failed. You did the right thing for yourself. Move on and I hope you find the comfort you seek.

Probably a minority take but if he’s uncomfortable at funerals then that’s his right, he brought flowers and comforted her afterwards. Overreaction to drop what seems like a nice guy.
