My sisters BF did something similar. Didn't see her from mums death but did turn up for the funeral. 3 weeks without seeing him or showing her any support. We got through the funeral together, she dumped him a few weeks later. If you can't support the person you love at their lowest point then you dont their love.

when my dad died the first one to come check on me was my ex-husband cuz he knew I had Noone else and stayed there thru the whole process I'll always be grateful to him for that

My condolences for the loss of your mom. Peace, Love and Light. And as far as the BF is concerned, we all have to do things unpleasant. His boundary was also HIS test. He failed. You did the right thing for yourself. Move on and I hope you find the comfort you seek.

Probably a minority take but if he’s uncomfortable at funerals then that’s his right, he brought flowers and comforted her afterwards. Overreaction to drop what seems like a nice guy.
