What you can sell, where you can sell it, labeling requirements, and whether you need a license or inspection can vary. 🧁 Start with ONE product. Don't launch with 15 flavors and 6 different desserts. Get one thing REALLY good first. 🔬 Expect trial and error. Your first recipe probably won't be your final recipe. Test, take notes, change ONE thing at a time, and test again. ⚖️ Weigh your ingredients. Even if you're self-taught, a kitchen scale can make your results much more consistent. 📓 Write EVERYTHING down. Ingredients, measurements, temperature, proofing time, bake time, what worked and what didn't. 💰 Know your actual costs. Ingredients are only part of the cost. Don't forget packaging, labels, electricity, your time, fees and waste. 📸 Start documenting before you're "ready." Your failed batches, experiments and progress can become some of your best content. 🎁 Make the experience part of the product. Packaging, presentation and pickup should feel special—not like someone is just buying something from your kitchen. 🗓️ Preorders can save you from waste. Know how many you're making before you spend money making 100 of them. ❤️ Don't compare your beginning to someone's year 10. Learn from other bakers, but give yourself permission to be a beginner.
