@dailymail: Even relatively low levels of alcohol consumption have been linked to differences in brain volume, according to research examining more than 36,000 adults. The University of Pennsylvania-led study found that the association became stronger as daily alcohol consumption increased, with changes seen even among people drinking around one to two units a day. Researchers compared the brain-volume differences associated with alcohol consumption to the effects of aging, finding that higher daily intake was linked to changes equivalent to additional years of brain aging. The researchers stressed that the study found an association rather than proof of cause and effect, and said further research is needed to establish whether alcohol directly drives the changes. #alcohol #drinking #brain #study #Science
