As a Muslim that loves and celebrates Onam, it is absolutely Hindu. It’s become cultural, but it still celebrates Hindu traditions. Problem is usually people who don’t even celebrate onam inserting themselves

hi so to clear up confusion. onam is traditionally a hindu festival, with origins to vamana, one of lord vishnus avatars. what this person is presumably referring too is people misusing this festival as an opportunity to add chicken, beef and other meat dishes to a traditional veg onam sadya. he's rooting to the reason why we celebrate this festival. but it is a malayalu festival, so mallus globally should respect traditions. hope that clears up :)
