PCG spox Jay Tarriela: “The Chinese Coast Guard used high-pressure water cannons that caused injuries to Filipino fishermen. These were so powerful that they even destroyed wooden structures and parts of the indigenous fishing boats.” PCG also says CCG personnel aboard their rigid inflatable boats also cut the anchor lines of some Filipino fishing boats, “endangering the vessels and their crews amid strong currents and high waves.” CCG vessels shadowed PCG ships that were deployed to assist the harassed Filipino fishermen.
