**Trigger Warning** I’m sharing this because we’re feeling completely lost and are hoping someone might have experienced something similar or knows a professional who could offer advice. Our 6-month-old, Max, started having neck spasms earlier this week. At first, they were very subtle - so much so that if you don’t know Max, you probably wouldn’t have noticed them. But in the last two days, the spasms have become much more frequent. They vary in severity: sometimes it’s just a few quick spasms, while other times they happen every 5 to 8 seconds. I had a doctor’s appointment yesterday, and we were referred to a pediatrician, though we’re still waiting for the appointment date. After the appointment, Max’s episodes worsened, becoming more frequent. We called 111, and they advised us to go to the hospital. We spent hours there and saw several people, but in the end, we were told that there wasn’t a pediatrician on-site as they leave at 5 PM. Infantile spasms have been mentioned to us multiple times - a terrifying possibility. Reading about it is heart-wrenching, especially since untreated cases can result in a drastically reduced life expectancy. Every day feels crucial right now. We’re staying hopeful, though. We don’t believe it’s infantile spasms and are praying it’s something much more minor that will pass. Max was supposed to have scans last night, but due to staffing shortages, we left the hospital without any answers. We have a private appointment scheduled for tomorrow, but as you can imagine, we’re incredibly anxious as parents. I forgot to mention that Max bumped his head about four weeks ago. A couple of days later, a bulge appeared on his forehead, though not in the spot where he hit his head. We had him checked, and were reassured that it wasn't anything to worry about. However, the bulge is still there. If anyone has any insight or knows a professional who might, please share this with them. Any help or advice would be deeply appreciated.
