Well let’s see. First there’s decorating the outside of your house. It’s days worth of preparation before you hang one light. Then comes the inside decorations then cookie day. The shopping. Then the tree. Then more shopping. Then more decorations on the tree. Then more cookies because you already ate most of them. Then food shopping. Then wrapping gifts. Then fixing all the lights that blew out outside. Then signing Christmas cards and sending them out. Then more shopping. Then setting the table for Christmas Eve dinner. Then wrapping more gifts. Then cooking dinner. Then opening up presents for all the kids on Christmas Eve. And then cleaning most of the dishes and some of the table. Then opening presents Christmas morning. Then cleaning up all that mess and getting everybody ready to go to grandmas for Christmas dinner. Then and only then, might there be some relief before it’s time to take everything down and put it away, neatly, and make sure everything is put away in a specific place so next year it’s not a chore just to find all the decorations. “MERRY CHRISTMAS!” I wouldn’t miss it for anything! Now you can rest and relax for 10 months.
