I get the feeling they've stopped factoring consumer sentiment or even consumer purchasing power into their thinking. They just look at the maximum "possible" profit, and act accordingly as if that result can be achieved in a vacuum.

I've been soap boxing this for a while. My main immediate concern is that they're forcing a product that is 20% functional into every online interaction just because it's costing insane amounts of investor money and they need to show that it can do ANYTHING to keep the money fountain flowing. Meanwhile, because it's barely functional, early adopters are losing interest in any capability it might have had with another 10yrs of development, because it's still less efficient than hiring someone or doing it yourself.
