@seraphinacox: A very important distinction in how we operate and treat people. As an adult content creator, I am told all the time that I don’t deserve respect. And they mean recognition respect. Because they conflate it with appraisal respect, respect that is earned, and say I haven’t earned, or have forfeited basic human dignity and respect. SWers have been k!lled for that lack of distinction paired with the entitlement of their k!llers. The difference is important.

I brought this exact thing up to my parents. At first the became defensive and insisted that they had never done that. I told they hadn’t but that many of the authority figures I grew up with did and you see it all over the world today, especially with many police.

in the military, we got a phrase that kinda says that, and its when someone is a higher rank than you, but is kinda a dick, and youd just say, "you dont gotta respect the person, but you at least have to respect the rank"
