What about those Chinese who were born and live in Anglo Saxon countries, these are perceived as nerds and the laughing stock at school, but the ethnic Chinese still excel in math, it’s genetic 😁

Its expectation - culturally and socially. As an FBA - teachers ’tried’ to push my very tall son and daughter toward sports rather than academics. My husband and I had to proactively push against that stereotype - Mathnasium-academics were pushed as the focus. Today my kids are an Engineer and DDS.
