@teabeforetantrums: The way they will literally tell a complete stranger in a public bathroom that their outfit is incredible (and mean every single word of it) The way they find out you’re British and immediately tell you about their great great grandmother who was British like it’s someone you’ll know The way they see you struggling with something and immediately drop everything to help without being asked and without making it weird The way they recommend a restaurant with the same energy as if they personally own the place The way they genuinely can’t just say “fine thanks” and every “how are you” gets a real answer and a follow up question The way they see a dog across a car park and physically cannot continue the conversation until they have acknowledged it. Americans are such a friendly bunch and honestly the world doesn’t give you enough credit. Which one is most you? 👇 #britinamerica #ukvsusa #culturaldifference #lifeinamerica #americans
Maybe it’s cause I’m American, but aren’t these things just normal?

If they mention a British relative they don’t expect you to know them 🙄 It’s an effort to connect. To find some tiny thing in common. Appreciate it for what it actually is- human connection.

I love letting someone know how incredible their hair, outfit, glasses, etc are. I also MUST become friends with any animal I encounter. Utah, USA.

It always makes me sad when people think it’s fake friendliness. If I don’t want to be friendly I won’t. If I am being nice it’s because I mean it.

So incredibly sweet and refreshing to hear ! I think the World Cup coming here was much needed as a reminder that it's not a bad country and we're not bad people because that's all I kept hearing and our visitors, loved us and loved this country 🥰

I was totally oblivious for years that when people ask “how are you?” It’s the same as hi and they don’t expect a real answer 😂 I’ve over shared a lot.

I love to give a genuine compliment, like if I think your hair is fabulous, I’m gonna tell you. Also, I will say hi in a baby voice to every dog I meet, which sounds ridiculous because my real voice is a little low.

Haha the dog thing Is so real. I thought we loved dogs back home but I personally witnessed a lady let out the loudest excited squeal in Lowes yesterday because someone had a German shepherd puppy. I thought this lady had won the lottery with how excited she was 😂

You bring an American a dog to pet and you suddenly become that Americans friend for life.

From the south and we were just in Scotland, Cambridge and London in June. Anytime we were looking at her phones or talking about finding a place, someone would stop and help us. It happened over and over again. People in London were very kind. A firefighter who was volunteering at Wimbledon started talking to us on the train and literally walked us to exactly the place we needed to go. Super kind people in the UK

One of the hardest things for me as an American traveling in Europe is getting used to people not being overly friendly passing strangers in the street 😂 a European woman told me on day 6 of our trip that she loved my outfit and it truly may have been the highlight of my trip haha

Sometimes I worry that the rest of the world generally sees us as bad people. Hearing stuff like this is refreshing. We really are kind, friendly people for the most part 🥹
