Arthur Laffer did not become influential because of a complex theory. He became influential because he asked a simple question: how do incentives shape behavior?  His famous concept, the Laffer Curve, argues that tax rates influence economic decisions. At some point, higher taxes may discourage work, investment, and risk taking, potentially reducing the very revenue policymakers were trying to increase.  Whether you agree with the exact shape of the curve or not, its broader impact was significant. It shifted economic discussions away from viewing taxes purely as a revenue tool and toward asking how policy actually affects human behavior.  The lesson extends far beyond economics. People respond to incentives. Organizations respond to incentives. Entire systems respond to incentives.
