@jacobdoesmoney2: Put $10,000 into five popular ETFs 10 years ago and here's what you'd have: BND $11,446, VXUS $24,760, SCHD $34,612, VOO $41,416, SMH $183,068. Every number is the 10-year total return through August 24, 2026, with dividends reinvested: BND 1.36% a year, VXUS 9.49%, SCHD 13.22%, VOO 15.27%, SMH 33.74%. None of this predicts the next 10 years. BND's $1,446 gain is 14.5% over a decade, and prices rose almost 40% in that same window per the BLS, so that $11,446 buys less in 2026 than the $10,000 did in 2016. Chips fell about 18% in July. On June 30, VanEck's own 10-year number for SMH worked out to $252,677 on the same $10,000, so that one drop cost about $70,000 in two months. In 2022 it dropped 34% in a single year. I hold VOO, SMH, and AIS. No bonds at 26. That changes as I get closer to living off this portfolio. Follow for more real numbers like these.
