@stevancy6: When a child learns that escalating can turn a parent’s “no” into a “yes,” an important psychological shift happens. Where do we draw the line between normal boundary-testing and a pattern that needs attention? #ghanatiktok🇬🇭 #parenting101 #boundaries #childbehaviour #drsteph🇬🇭🇩🇪
Thank you for shining a light on this topic. Adding to this, as a psychologist, I often see operant conditioning at play where both parent and child become conditioned. When a child throws a tantrum and the parent gives in, the parent is negatively reinforced (the screaming stops) while the child is positively reinforced (they get what they want). This creates a cycle that escalates over time into CPVA.

Growing up in Africa, tantrum in public and your parent would just leave you there 😭😂 Suddenly you’re the one running after them crying like “Mummy waittt!” They’d ignore you for 30 minutes till you come to your senses. 😂 Living abroad, you realize you definitely cannot parent like that anymore 😂😂

Thank you for this informative video! 🤍 This is such an important topic and honestly such a daily challenge as a parent. It’s human that we can’t always be consistent, especially when things get exhausting. That’s why reminders like this are so valuable to remind us why consistency matters and to keep trying, even when it’s hard. Thank you for the reminder! 🙏🏾

Sometimes as a parent, you already feel all eyes on you. When your child starts a tantrum in public, you may just give in to avoid the extra looks and end the situation quickly

Once they start using the Koti part against parents, parents need to act fast before everything gets out of control.😳
