@quadrawellness: Ever wake up from a nap feeling like your brain somehow got more tired? That groggy, heavy, slightly confused feeling is called sleep inertia. It can happen when you wake while your brain is still coming out of deeper sleep. It may feel stronger if you were already sleep deprived, if the nap went longer than you intended, or if you slept at a time your body was particularly ready for sleep. It doesn’t necessarily mean naps are bad for you. Some people do really well with them. But if naps regularly leave you feeling awful or you’re struggling with significant daytime sleepiness despite getting enough opportunity for sleep, it’s worth mentioning to your doctor or a sleep professional. Hi, I’m Tony Ho, MSW RSW, an insomnia therapist. I talk about sleep without making it another thing to worry about. #sleep #napping #sleephealth #naps #sleeptips
