@jackdmurphy: Bring back old school heartthrobs! Hollywood has a st*roids problem and sure, it’s mostly due to the popularity of superhero movies but these studios and franchises also have a responsibility to their audiences. This type of body image is detrimental to everyone, not just men and boys. I never thought of it before, but it is directly correlated to the rise in f*scism - as is the increasing skinniness trend among women. The post by Feminist (@feminist) citing the Hannah Einbinder interview really woke me up. (Thank you!) If you stand up for something - there’s going to be an equal opposite reaction. As feminism and inclusivity soars, the incel bros are threatened and turn to the patriarchy to assert their dominance “if I take up more physical space, I’ll get more, maybe I’ll even be worth more” seems to be the mentality. This is just a matter of looking good. It’s all connected - fitness, fashion, films - it’s all seemingly falling in line with the political landscape surrounding us.
