I’ve wanted the SKULLPANDA × GUO PEI figure since she dropped. The dark gothic vibe, anatomical heart, black crow, red and ivory — she looked AMAZING in every photo. Then she sold out. 😑 I eventually won her on Whatnot for $155, which I was thrilled about considering I’ve seen her reselling for $300+. And now that I finally have her… I’m a little underwhelmed. 😭 She came from a sealed box with a small factory blemish on her thigh. Assembly was A LOT — approximately 847 pieces 😂 — the magnetic hair confused me, and although the instructions show the helmet coming off, I couldn’t get it off without feeling like I was going to break her. And she doesn’t reliably stand on her own. I can get her positioned, but eventually she starts to go. For a figure at this price point, that’s frustrating. My biggest disappointment, though, is her face. The images that made me fall in love with her show much darker red around the eyes, giving her this eerie, haunting look. Mine is noticeably softer and just doesn’t have the same impact. She’s still beautiful, incredibly detailed and completely my aesthetic. But after wanting her for SO long, I expected to be obsessed. I’m not. 🥀 Sometimes the hunt really is better than the catch.
