One of the reason my this happens is because most dog owners mate their female dog at the wrong time. Before a dog can get pregnant she has to come in her heat period (having bloody discharge from her vulva) this process varies in most dogs because some dogs usually have short cycle while others have long cycle. From the first day the dog starts bleeding you should start counting until you get to day 10 because this is when most dogs starts ovulating. Some dogs are known to start ovulating by day 7 while some can fall on day 13th. For dog owners who aren’t sure when the heat started and are unable to count correctly then this video is your best guide, if you notice the blood isn’t coming out as much as it usually does or you notice the blood is looking pinkish or light red then you should try tapping the upper part of your dogs vulva, if you notice she moves her tail sideways and lifts her vulva up then she’s ovulating and can be bred at that time. Most people perform ovulation tests with their ovulation test kit or either at the vet clinic but if you can’t do this then follow the steps I highlighted on this video.
