My company has not laid off for AI (they have for other reasons) but they have implemented Copilot and are pushing us to use it. I use it to add the friendly fluff to my emails and occasionally in excel. It's worthless for my job otherwise.

It's not regret. Every big public company does this so their earnings reports look better when they have less overhead, then they rehire and lay off again right before the reports.
