I agree, almost entirely, except why do we need to compete? Why do we need to be better than anybody? China has shown her more than willing to collaborate on things that benefit their society as well as everyone else’s why do we need to compete with them rather than work with them? That’s the main problem with our government

I think the wealthy understood this during the gilded age & understood how important reputation is to furthering their goals. These current tech companies completely abandoned that principle & openly shown disdain to the very ppl they need. Now they are facing an uphill battle

If you watched succession you would have realized that A) Roman voted for Ken, and B) Shiv fucks Ken because she would remain closer to power with Tom as CEO than with Ken. we’ve already lost to china imo, but most Americans don’t care. i also don’t think Shiv or Roman cared that Kendall “killed someone,” (which he didn’t even really do), they just couldn’t stand him being CEO instead of them, and fwiw, they probably couldn’t have agreed on either Shiv or Roman being CEO either. It’s true that Kendall failed to earn his siblings trust and respect in the same way tech CEOs have failed to win over Americans, but i don’t think Kendall ever could have because his siblings are spiteful, petty and selfish because their egomaniacal father was so selfish and greedy and cruel. for a while Americans seemed amenable to letting tech companies completely drain us and our economy, turning us into the product and hoarding wealth and power, but i think the backlash comes from our material conditions finally becoming untenable on the grand scale. Americans will let washington and wall street spit in our faces as long as we don’t feel poor, but as runaway inflation and gas and grocery prices actually start to hit us in the pockets, that’s when sentiment changes. tale as old as time.
