@katieminkus: My thoughts on the Lindsay Clancy trial as a therapist and mom of 3. This case has brought up so many complicated conversations around postpartum mental health, severe mental illness, motherhood, accountability, and what happens when someone’s mental state becomes profoundly impaired. I’m not here to diagnose someone I’ve never treated or tell anyone how they should feel about this case. I’m sharing the perspective I can speak to: what I see through my clinical lens, and what I feel as a mother. There are parts of this case that are incredibly difficult to reconcile, and I think we can hold space for the complexity without minimizing the lives lost or the devastation left behind. I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts! #lindsayclancy #lindsayclancycase #MentalHealth #motherhood #postpartum
It’s been so hard to watch! And for someone to say PP only last 4 weeks is DIABOLICAL! She was screaming for help and she was failed. The system failed her and her children.

Empathy, that’s the key. No matter what you think, everyone deserves empathy right now in that family.

I was miserable in perimenopause symptoms and talked to my dr who told me menopause is a normal phase of life. Tried a second dr who told me exercise and diet changes would help. Left that apt crying. Found a third dr who finally prescribed HRT and felt human again. Our entire medical system is so siloed, profit driven, overworked and sometimes difficult to navigate as a functioning human

It’s so hard being a parent, especially a mother to young kids, especially ones that aren’t the early milestone kids bc everything is brushed off as you need more patience. Same here with my kiddo. He was saying 5 words at 2. FIVE WORDS! Pediatrician told me at every appointment that it was normal, boys take longer to talk, dont compare with my oldest. Well I sought a second opinion and we were referred to speech therapy. 18 months later he caught up, but why is it so hard to just at least look into it or refer us to a specialist? It’s not always moms being paranoid!

I’m going to flood here.. i have found myself so fixated on the conspiracies- but the reality is that it's easier for me to focus on Patrick than to sit with how badly the system failed Lindsay and her children. She had insurance, a support system, and was actively seeking help- she wasn't a woman falling through the cracks because no one was looking. She was falling through the cracks while multiple providers were looking directly at her. That's the part that should scare us. Postpartum psychosis is a psychiatric emergency, and we still don't have a healthcare system built to recognize and respond to it as one, even when a patient is doing everything "right." That's a much harder, much more uncomfortable question to sit with in 2026. The uncomfortable truth is we keep failing mothers like Lindsay. When it comes to being heard and believed by the healthcare system, it feels like we've gone backward, Alice in Wonderland style.

Love your thoughts!!! I’m sorry what you went through!! Postpartum can be so scary. I feel so bad for moms who don’t have support or any help. The fact she tried to get help and it ended like this is heartbreaking. No matter to outcome, her life is ruined

Ok I’m sat for this!! So sorry to hear you had that experience. This case is so heartbreaking, I hate that she tried to hard to advocate for herself and she and her children were still failed.

Let’s have these men talk and give their opinion after they have children. And that’s where I’ll leave it.

I cannot imagine being in that headspace and repeatedly getting up the strength to ask for help. You’re so drained with a baby, to keep asking for help took a strong woman. People don’t realize.
