I work in labor and delivery and every time I work with a family who has lost a baby I personally walk that baby to the morgue. No one is allowed to but me. And all the way to the morgue I talk to that little one and tell them all I learned about their mommy and daddy and their siblings. I tell them stories and I hold them all the way there, and let them know their life mattered. It’s my way or honoring those sweet little babies.

My mom worked in a funeral home and when there was a child, he always made sure something was slightly imperfect. When my mom noticed a little girl’s socks not folded quite right and went to fix it, he said “Leave it, that is for mom to do.”

I’m a mortician. We hold your babies, talk to them, sing to them as if they were still with us. ❤️

FYI. In Jewish funeral homes there is ALWAYS someone there 24/7 because no one should ever be alone in life and death 💕

When my baby died a set of twins also died the same day and a grandpa. All at the same funeral home they not only left the lights on the owner read the babies a bedtime story each night they were there and had the grandpa watching over them. It was honestly really comforting.

When my son died, the funeral director had his wife come in so he could be “tucked in by a mother”

A mom refused to let her baby go to the hospital morgue so I called every funeral home in the area until someone answered. I explained the situation and not one hesitation was made to come and get the baby late at night. Suits on, flowers for mom and reassurance that her baby was their baby now too.

I work for a funeral home. First baby I transported was in November and I thought "this little one is never going to get to experience Christmas" so I played Christmas music for them. It's kinda my tradition now to either play Christmas music or Disney music for them.

My 11 year old son died unexpectedly last month and this just gutted me. The wonderful organ donation team played his favorite song in the OR for him as well. I miss him so much.

lab tech. not as impactful. if I get a sample from a little one from ER that's a pregnancy/drug test. she goes onto the analyzer with other women. even the little part of her doesn't deserve to be alone during that.

After my son died I was struggling too hard to bring home his remains. I was suddenly overwhelmed by guilt that he was in a dark room all by himself. I called in a panic and the young mortician so sweetly said that my kiddo was hanging out on her desk and she talks to him all day long. It was so comforting. ❤️❤️

I’m a PEDS RN and when children die and we are allowed (not an ME case), we will clean them up, change a diaper, and wrap them in warm blankets for the family. Everyone deserves dignity and comfort, even in death.

Yep. And trigger warning for anyone who has had a D+C due to miscarriage or abortion please don’t read on if you are triggered. Part of my job used to be was to do a morbid puzzle to make sure that nothing was left behind . Think about it for a second and you’ll understand what I’m saying. While doing this we would hum a lullaby. Regardless of how that tissue arrived to me, it was connected to a woman who had to either make a choice or survive a loss and I will use every ounce of compassion and respect.
