It's bc AI music making is the equivalent of an unremarkable toddler pressing buttons of a preprogrammed fisher price toy instrument then thinking they made a hit irl.

Artists love the creative process. AI users almost by definition despise it. That's why they feel entitled to skipping it and going straight to the outcome.

it's a cult. in IT content it's the same, as soon as anybody criticizes AI, they come rushed in to tell you how you're a relic and will lose your job next week, ignoring any point that was made. It's "Bitcoin bros" all over again...

Mac has two categories of user: the ones that know nothing about computers, because it’s so was to use, and the ones that know really much about computers, because the OS is so much better than windows. The people in the middle use windows.

Their idea of art is fundamentally different from that of actual artists because they believe the finished product is all there is to it. What about the process, the struggle, collaboration with other humans, problem solving? You know, the humanity of it all that makes it so much more interesting than going from idea to finished thing in 10 seconds

as someone who firmly believes programming is in itself an artform this kind of behavior drives me up the wall. its just tragic more than anything

I sort of feel bad for them. It's not the "product" of making art, that is the rewarding thing. It's the tinkering, trying, failing and learning and trying again and finding out something new.

We seem to be sleep walking into a future where people take credit for the output of AI. Wish I knew how it could be stopped.

Why do they even release the AI songs? Just email me the prompt bruh and I’ll make it myself. Much easier 😂

I’ve never seen a real artist care about whether or not they were called an artist, yet it’s the biggest deal in the world to the AI dudes

anyone who uses ai to mark art/music are part of the group of people who cant take no as an answer. They dont understand the consent of others. Its always about taking the least effort for the end result. nothing more.

Artists make art because they have something to say, AI tech bros make stuff because they have something they WANT. If you snapped your fingers and both groups got rich, artists would continue making art but AI shills would drop it entirely because it was always just a means to an end.

I feel like this applies for literally any kind of AI “artist”. There was once an AI “artist” that was in an art GC and he was arguing more about the fact that he made the AI by himself and that it was completely his than the fact that he was trying to pass AI “art” in a really anti-AI art gc. AI “artists” are just tech nerds that want a slice of the art nerds cool stuff, but they can’t comprehend the fact that both fields are so different and the values are so different

is techno-optimism part of the solar-punk movement? It's never seemed that way to me. A solar punk doesn't espouse the idea that tech will improve everything, rather they see a future where efficient, clean energy is accessible for all. It's about democritization and living in harmony with the natural world. Importantly, the vision of the solar-punk future is less high tech and less convenient.

People who generate music with ai don’t see music as an art form or an expression of emotion they see it simply as a product

Making the music can be so special. It’s like birthing something unique over a period of time, even that period of time can have its own sentimental value. It’s more than just ”a cool thing” to express creativity, it’s like divine nature. On the picture of the wooden slab you see the same thing, nature expressing itself in a unique way.

My dad prompts music on Suno. he has been into computers since the late 80s, so naturally he jumped on ai as soon as it became available. I on the other hand has been playing music since i was a kid. To me music is about expression. what does it make you feel when you listen to it. What thoughts and feelings are you trying to convey when playing it. To my dad its purely about function. if an event is coming up he will prompt songs for the occasion. A birthday is coming up? he gets ChatGPT and Suno to make a song about it. Christmas? ChatGPT and Suno. Anniversary with my mom? same thing.

Can confirm it’s like we speak different languages. I do session work on fiverr and there’s been way more AI people in the past year or so. The feedback they give just doesn’t quite make sense compared to how someone with actual music production experience does. I just can’t work with anyone who’s using gen AI from both a practical as well as a moral perspective.
