I had to learn, too, especially race week, more carbs = more water retention, and hydrating in general, ups the scale. I just stay away from the scale during the season.

I want to believe that I don’t need to lose weight but all the runners I look up to are thinner and more visibly muscular than me 😔

Is there an easy way to figure out the best or “fittest” weight to maintain for running (not just for an A race) to perform at my highest potential?

I just had a body scan, I've gained 1 pound of muscle and 4 pounds of fat, I'm the heaviest I've ever been and I'm in the best shape of my life so far.

It’s so difficult to accept that I’m a faster, stronger runner who can run so much better and further than before but weight almost 5-10lb more. When I was less I was exhausted and kept getting injured!!!!!!

I’m the heaviest when I’m racing. I hate it but I’ve succumbed to the fact that this is inevitable.

very well said to just further back up your point here Amy here’s a study that directly looked at performance outcomes and people who had low energy availability in the Boston marathon in 2022 https://bjsm.bmj.com/content/59/4/222.long. To summarize, they have 4% roughly of the field included in this, and anyone who had indicators of low energy availability had increased risk of overuse injury in their training, decreased performance on race day, and an increase rate by almost 3 times of having moderate to severe medical intervention needs during race.

could you do a video on off season and maintenance? I would like to lose 15 pounds after my half marathon and want to do it without injury.

Can you make a video about how to structure your off season to not lose progress? I’m a very mediocre runner and I want to lose weight but I feel like I can’t really afford to lower my training level because I won’t continue to get better. I feel like I need all the training I can get before my next race even if its not until next year.

I was just thinking about this lol I’ve gained a little bit bc I’m a bottomless pit from this race build. I started running to lose weight but training hard for races and eating more food kinda makes me anxious.

I was recently told by a run coach (not mine), that I need to lose 10% body fat to be a better athlete and it immediately made me want to diet. This video found me at the best time!

I just naturally lose 1lb per week as I’m running for a race and I don’t restrict

I lost 10 lbs the first 8 weeks of my training block, I’m slowing gaining them back as my milage has been increasing, and that’s okay! I feel stronger and I can tell my endurance is getting better. I’ll take a few lbs if it means I’m improving during the second half of the block!

I want to drop 5 pounds at some point. I just can’t ever find a good time to do it base on my different training schedules. My weight has been pretty consistent though, I don’t have trouble with maintaining my current weight.
