OP isn’t the arsehole and he’s not over reacting, that girlfriend is a red flag, if she can’t trust you then OP needs to think about the relationship, she sounds crazy and a drama queen.

She went behind his back and tried to get into his flat because her friend put the idea in her head that he might be lying or cheating. If he isn’t ready to give her a key to his home, he doesn’t have to — it’s his flat and his boundary. Trying to turn that into “if you trusted me, you’d give me a key” is incredibly manipulative. Her behaviour is becoming quite concerning and, if this is already happening after a year, I’d be seriously worried about it becoming increasingly controlling. She also seems far too easily influenced by her friends. I’d honestly walk away before this gets worse.

This is why its important to listen the full story. I think dating over a year is a long enough time to decide whether you trusts someone. But then as the story progressed I see why he has inhibitions. No friend told her u were cheating, she herself believe u were because SHE is cheating. So if she caught u cheating what would that solve? I never quote understood why people go out of their way to catch people in the act when they have no intention of leaving. She is not well.... leave.
