The company I work for implemented this and fired a bunch of people. They can tell what tab we are in, mouse movement, what we type even if we don’t hit enter.. and they categorize it as “productive” and “unproductive”. It’s very “big brother”. 😭

JAMF only logs when you're online and logged on the company network. Someone working from home without using the company VPN would be seen as offline for example. And thats when the JAMF client just doesnt decide not to work altogether.

We have a client who one worker was uismg their personal device to code but was actually faking data for it. So there's some value in these metrics showing total inactivity... But thy aren't the sole metrics.. Though in this case... He was breaking rules using his own stuff.

12 years ago, my boss complained about my "Away" status on Skype while I was actually working away from my desk. I installed a mouse jiggler to fake online activity in Skype. He thought I was always at my desk, though my real output actually went down because I didn't care anymore on how much I actually work. Obviously, I didn't stay at that job

I'm a one-person branch of my company, sometimes I don't speak to my boss for a couple of months. I just run around doing whatever I want, working whenever I want, and working with whatever clients I want. My boss is the best person in the entire world, he literally made my dream come true with his company. And because I love my work so much, when I get on to a really fun campaign, I'm off and working 10 to 12 hour days 7 days a week. it's just fun, so on the days where I'm not on a campaign and I'm not working that many hours, nobody cares.

I was laid off last summer bc of exactly this type of crap. 13 years, nothing but excellent annual reviews, response time less than 60 seconds, no one could say a single negative thing about my performance or results, and I was the only active employee that could do the job. But my time being “active” was too low. I’ll never be loyal to a company again.

my work did that and where it video screen and tracked mouse movements so I just had my laser mouse angled so it looks like my mouse was always moving and started doing the bare minimum because they let go the good people that got stuff done and it made the people that didn't know stuff and always had to look it up look like good workers while the people new job and what they were doing didn't have to use the system as much lok
