In the mid-1980s, an elderly neighbour told us the story behind the song "It's Too Late to Say You Love Me." He explained that Dolly Parton once had a crush on a young man who showed no interest in her. As time passed, another young man approached her, and she fell in love with him instead. Right after that, the first man returned and finally asked her out. Dolly replied, "It's too late to say you love me; I've met someone else." That real-life moment inspired the song. The old man added that Dolly was a true woman of faith; she refused to do anything ungodly, which included being involved with more than one partner at the same time. May the woman of faith rest in peace. 🙏🙏
