@jumpseatforthree: I completed my pilot training in secrecy. When I told my family, I discovered something I had never known. My dad had trained to become a pilot too. He never reached his PPL; by the time he got far enough through, he'd started a family and decided that the responsibilities of having children meant he couldn't continue. He died 13 years ago. I started flying during what was probably the most vulnerable period of my own life, as a single mum of three. I was completely unaware that I was picking up something where he had left off.
