@gamesdotgg: Krafton announced @Official PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS DEDNET at Gamescom Opening Night Live tonight and it looks nothing like PUBG. Set in the fictional Cascadia region of the Pacific Northwest in the 1990s, grunge music, body horror, and the occult - it is a multiplayer FPS that combines shooter gameplay with roguelite progression across runs. Every match feeds your next one, what you scavenge changes you, abilities carry over, and a lost run is never wasted. The tactics on offer are about as unhinged as you would expect: using car doors as riot shields, cannibalising enemies for health, playing dead, and hacking payphones to steal money from rivals. The trailer showed characters penguin-sliding across maps and firing from a graffiti-covered grenade launcher. A closed beta is now open for pre-registration on the game's official website.
