THE RAPTURE The Rapture is the event when Jesus Christ will suddenly come for His true believers and take them from the earth to be with Him. It is described in 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17: “The Lord Himself will descend from heaven… and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive… will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.” The Rapture will be sudden and unexpected. Believers who have died in Christ will be resurrected, and believers who are still alive will be transformed. Together, they will be caught up to meet Jesus in the air. This event will not simply be an ordinary appearance of Christ. It will be a supernatural gathering of His people. Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 15:51–52 that believers will be changed “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.” The Rapture is therefore a message of hope for Christians. The exact timing of the Rapture is debated among Christians. The most important message is not to become obsessed with predicting the exact day or hour. It reminds us that this world is temporary and that our eternal destiny is found in Christ. We should live in faith, holiness, repentance, love, and obedience to God. One day, the trumpet will sound. The question is not simply, “When will the Rapture happen?” The greater question is: “AM I READY TO MEET JESUS?” Do not wait until that day to make your decision.
