@ryandowsell: Long lasting flowers and tons of colour? Grow these 🌸 If you’re a beginner gardener or someone planning next year’s garden, it’s so important to have long lasting colour in the borders and pots. These are my 8 favourite long lasting flowers that I’ve discovered after many years of growing 🌼 They all flower continuously for months and months even when most other plants in the garden have finished flowering, these plants just don’t stop! 🌸 Most are easy to care for apart from a bit of deadheading. The perennials come back every year (in the UK) and the annuals are easy to grow from seed 🌱 - Alstroemeria - Dahlias - Zinnias (my favourite is ‘Purple Prince’) - Salvia ‘mystic spires’ - Cosmos (my favourites are ‘sensation mix’ and ‘candy stripe’) - Rudbeckia (the longest lasting flowers are ‘Marmalade’) - Erigeron karvinskianus (Mexican fleabane) - Geranium Rozanne #gardening #flowers #Summer

Depending on the garden zone, marigolds also bloom for months! They also repel lots of pests that we don’t want in our garden!

I survived the great cosmos invasion of 2003 and I will never do it again. They are so invasive, we couldn't get rid of them for 10 years. Pretty flowers tho... In small doses.
