I remember when self service servos started popping up and charged less. Despite my mum being super budget conscious she’d only custom full service petrol stations until it was no longer an option. It felt like the beginning of the slow and sneaky decline in choice & service. The ‘good old days’ weren’t that great in many ways but at least the wealth gap wasn’t so horrifying and the 1% at least tried to hide their corruption.
