I think my therapist knows my habits and how I tend to act well, but yeah I wouldn’t ask them for a LOR. Would feel super awkward 😂

I would never ask for a LOR from anyone that I am paying directly let alone my therapist because they would definitely be biased in keeping me as a client.

You can absolutely ask your school counselor or a letter of recommendation if you were applying to undergrad. If you have a personal therapist or a psychotherapist that you happen to see at the school— no!

When I was a hs senior I asked my therapist for a lor and she spoke very similarly to the ethical breach it would become if she’d did so. Didn’t think about that beforehand but it makes sense. Also I did get into the program in question!
