Self checkout is for a couple of items. Anyone with a basket full of stuff and things at the bottom of cart should be in the regular checkout lines. This isn’t racism. Everyone is watched closely at self checkout. This is 2026, people steal and corporations are not trying to waste their time figuring out whether you or your husband are thieves or just unaware customers who forgot to scan an item.

not condoning this behavior but to answer your question about the self checkout....they have a third party watching just the self checkout registers as it is the easiest way to steal items. and there's always someone in the security room constantly watching the cameras. and no...no one should be checking your receipts...that it's something you would've complained about it too. their aren't Walmart. but I'm not sure why he was targeted. usually this happens in stores where theft is really high so they have to stop every single person that didn't pay

Target is known for watching people accidentally steal and walk out the store but waits until their total exceeds $1000 then they prosecute them. If this happened, they have video evidence of every time - (facial recognition technology).

they assume because people steal crap all the time everyday a million times a day. how many excuses do you think they hear. you can't decide one person is bad because they stole a pack of diapers and then another person isn't just because you're offended by it.
