@Emily Grace: I’m in the minority that doesn’t want a shot for shot remake. If I wanted a shot for shot.. I would just go watch the original. I love it when they actually put some creativity into it and give you a backstory or pull from the original source material. Cinderella is my favorite because you actually get to see them meet before hand and it’s not just love at first sight. I love having Halle Bailey as Ariel because that’s different. I don’t really need the characters to look/sound that exact same. Again if I wanted it shot for shot… I would just go watch the original

I feel like Alice in Wonderland has to be mentioned here. I’d say THAT is when Disney started considering live action remakes with more story. And then Maleficent help push that forward because both were very well received from what I remember

In my heart Avantika Vandanapu is my Rapunzel, but I’m so glad they didn’t cast her as the hate she would’ve gotten would’ve been astronomical, and she doesn’t deserve that. Disney are cowards and have lost the ability to take be bold and revolutionary. Walt (as problematic as he was in other ways) wasn’t afraid to take a risk, and that’s what Disney is missing now.

101 Dalmatians is actually iconic. I think they've been doing too many remakes though. Cinderella was amazing and the complaints about the dress are ridiculous. The shape of the dress is literally designed to make the waist look smaller. Maleficent is another great live action remake because it was told from a different perspective. Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin were cool but honestly other than those, complete waste of time. I'm bored of live action remakes and I've stopped watching them

My favourite was Alice in Wonderland it is a remake, it's continuing the story, Alice got older and forgot Wonderland it's new and so good

It also is costumes. In 101 Dalmatians, Cruella Deville had an incredible costume designer, and everyone else else’s costume looked authentic. By the time you get to Snow White remake the costumes look like something from Spirit Halloween
