so essentially the major difference was the rental car for 2 months of vacation. if youre going for a week or less, flying is a way better deal

Good breakdown, but you left out the gas that you’re gonna use driving around Nashua in your scenario as opposed to the flying scenario where you did count gasoline driving around Nashua?

A rental car is probably unnecessary if you can borrow a relatives car. Take them to work and pick them up. So I’m torn whether flying or driving is the best option. But I do agree, road trips create lasting memories.

As someone that has done cross country, it was so worth it. I moved from new york city to california. And it was gorgeous to do the drive to see the scenic views everywhere. And it was actually cheaper driving my car across country than flying time is valuable, but something's in life are better to be done like this.

Rented a caravan to drive from Maine to Florida and it was cheaper than 4 people flying and we already had the rental for Florida so the extra 3 days for the drive didn’t add much

Was the rental really really necessary staying with relatives….also labor of driving increased risk… for just a “visit” fly.

Cost you more to drive if you take out the rental. But if you are going to be there a month, makes sense to drive. Flying versus driving is about time!!
