i hated Nesta. HATED her. until I got her POV. and then I realized... she is me. I am her. i hated her because it's how I felt about myself. I was never cruel to people like she was. but her self loathing? and the way she would think about herself? yeah, I saw me. I love her now. She's my girl 🩷🩷

i remember starting Silver Flames, thinking "yeah i'm interested to read this, but i don't know if i really like Nesta, we'll see". cut to me reading the hike scene & ugly sobbing because it hit me how much i needed to heal in the same ways as Nesta. even if i displayed my trauma differently than her, i needed the same help she did. it was so cathartic. i've loved her character ever since i hit that realization.

I told my therapist that Nesta was the first time I had ever felt seen for the way I felt about myself. I showed her quotes Nesta says about herself and said I have said this to myself so many times. And I told her how much it hurt to see people hate on her because I felt like “so people hate me?” My therapist said she hasn’t read the books but since I told her how I felt connected to her she said this “you and Nesta are not hated. You are misunderstood for how you both chose to survive and protect yourself. You and Nesta are deserving of love no matter what people say”😭😭😭

Silver Flames was, for me, the best of all the books of this saga. I love Feyre and Rhys and their arc, but this book- itself (and Nesta) felt so much grown..., deep, emotional, cared and curated, like she reaally took the time and the love to portrait a double story: the trama of this world and the trauma of living as a complex being. I remember the chapter on the Blood Rite, when Nesta realize that she cannot use her power, that the Rite recognize her as a being and not a thing (because of her bracelet working), and how much she needded to being acknowledge as a person and not a thing. It's wonderful to know (and one can imagine) that the fuel of that is a personal one of growth.
