While I agree with what your saying, I think you're missing something. it's not that Hal is sick the corps, but rather the Guardians. The Guardians expect him to be a yes man and to follow all the rules like a good soldier. Hal, by definition, is the complete opposite of that. That's why they choose John. John is exactly the kind of person they want wearing the ring. a soldier who follows the rules and does what he's told.

I think Hal doesn't trust the Guardians and the Guardians dont trust Hal and want a more controlable Lantern. Hence John: John is a guy that respects authority but the Guardians will soon find put you don't control John either.Hal even as his most commited always went by his gut. I like that the show props up Stewart with his poweful constructs but Hal is still the top dog with the disguised alien on the field before John and knowing not to go down to the field and discovering the alien detectors

You guys don't get it. You guys are used to seeing a young Hal Jordan. This is 20 years on the job. Look at any cop that's worked that long, he's not going to as excited or enthusiastic about his job as he once was. that doesn't mean he doesn't care as much, he's just a lot more jaded and seen a lot.

i personally interpreted him attacking waylon as an attack on hal's personal belief and how he takes the oath so seriously that it being used to ragebait him genuinely gets to him, but of course we still have 6 episodes left so things could be different

I think Hal has respect for the idea of the corps that's why he takes offence to Waylon saying as he sees it as a perversion of the oath. we know Sinestro staged a coup and killed a guardian and Hal stopped it so maybe it's affected his view after seeing someone he looked up to who embodied the corps turn and try to destroy it

I don’t think the fast delivery means he doesn’t care, just that he says it a lot — like a Hail Mary or other daily prayer might be said the same way while still holding meaning for the person speaking. It being akin to a prayer would also maybe explain him getting pissed at the alien for mocking the oath
