@pedsdocsloan: Some of my residents and the cases we saw together today!! For some background, when an intern sees a patient in the first 6 months of his/her training, the attending basically duplicates the work (ie sees the patient, confirms the history, does an exam and completes a more detailed note [than what they would do for a more senior resident]). After 6 months, the attending does not NEED to see the patient unless there is a specific concern; this is what we call graduated autonomy!! That being said, I saw all the patients that my interns saw today, as well (this is only their second month of training and they are doing AMAZING!). Patients are generally understanding of the extra time required for visits because we are a teaching hospital but it can cause some confusion 🥴 overall, a good day with some great variety!! #teachinghospital #residency #pediatrics #clinic #doctorsoftiktok
