From someone who's been admitted for suicidal thoughts and as someone who's made honest attempts, I can tell you that it's so much worse than the insurance companies actions. The intake process is a nightmare. Stripped of your clothes and your dignity and having laid bare all your innermost traumas in front of strangers on top of already wanting to die is something I can't explain with words. Walking around a psych ward at evening time in grippy socks and a gown letting in all the chill and the staring eyes is its own public and private hell. This whole system is mentally ill and traumatic. It's inhumane and demeaning. We can do better but maybe not under capitalism.

this is a systemic failure.. in her case and many others it's from husband on up through the doctors and healthcare system and patriarchy.

My husband was literally blue after doing what he did - woke up three days later from a coma. They sent him home.
