We have to deconstruct the phrase “lose your mind.” In this context, it doesn’t have the contemporary connotation of insanity or breakdown because those experiences are *within* the mind. To *lose* the mind is to relinquish our tether to the corporeal form, which, when experienced from that form can be terrifying because that is precisely what the ego is in place to protect.
