the mgs series is one of the greatest examples of games in their purest artistic form. so much storytelling in mgs was accomplished through means that could only ever be executed in the medium of a video game!

i dunno if its been brought up before but Vagrant Story is another ps1 title that has incredibly cinematic cutscenes and storytelling!! If u can appreciate mgs1, u could certainly appreciate vagrant story too!

I love Kojima but I'm not convinced even by his endorsement of Kong: Skull Island guy to do this movie. MGS is so brilliantly unique & richly RICHLY researched I just don't know that that guy's got chops for it.

I have the same feeling about Homeworld, which came out at about the same time. The score was amazing, the narration was straight out of a movie. And the color palette was extraordinary for the time. Very moving story. Nothing like it.

Kojima was one of the first to create truly cinematic games. All the 10+ minute cut scenes in modern games wouldn’t exist without kojima.

I also really feel this way about the original cutscenes for halo and halo 2!!! I recently played them not using the anniversary graphics, and the cutscenes were so composed and filmic despite the incredibly old looking character models. It's incredible and so fun, adds so much to the vibe of that game that has been lost as the graphics for those games have become more realistic.
