I use my kobo, I download the epub file on my laptop, plug in my kobo to my laptop, and then just drag the file over!

My process is dload as ePub > import to Calibre, adjust metadata, add a cover > upload to eReader (Kobo for me), as well as BookFusion (reading app).

one thing about Kindle that makes fanfic authors mad tho: if you have the kindle set to sync to goodreads, it'll add that fic and fic author to goodreads. authors get mad at readers for doing it on purpose, but lots of kindle users do it on accident because of that setting. also, side note, ao3 let's you download the fic in mobi or azw3 formats. it takes less space on the kindle, and looks a little better on the screen.

You can also download the epub, and send to kindle in the kindle app or send with jazz/calibre to kobo. And even the tag links are active in those to open ao3

Is there a reason we’re not just opening the web browser and going to AO3?

EPUB is great for kindle formatting. Though pdf is great if you just wanna open it on your phone or laptop without needing any extra software to read. If you want kindle app, You can even use (Amazon.com/sendtokindle) for easier access that sending everything through email 😁

My kobo was also easy. I would just go through the browser then download them and read them as a regular book.

PDF isn't even the best format for ereaders. They let you download epubs

if it's possible or public you can download them via USB or just through the browser if your kindle has one!

If there’s a screen ao3 will be seen. There’s probably a way to get ao3 on your e-reader. Probably also a tutorial so for those looking for different e-readers just search up a tutorial to do it.

also e-reader apps on phones and tablets! this and the custom skins is a big part of why AO3 is so accessible more so than buying/borrowing ebooks, for me (without all the DRM type stuff I can pick the location with the best/most settings for accessibility)

I've always just plugged my Kindle directly into my PC with a USB cable and transferred files that way. Didn't know there is any other way to use it for like a decade.

I recently bought myself a boox go 7 and it has made my reading experience so much better. It is not tied to the kindle operating system, but you can download apps (including kindle, libby or other readers). I set up my mailbox on it as well and can now easily go to the ongoing story I've subscribed from the alert, download the newest version and read there (or stay on the website itself, which is also comfortably accessible with a browser app) I can highly recommend! The only downside is that while you can directly jump to leave a comment at the end of the story from the epub, you sadly don't see the other comments. If you go to the website, that is not an issue, though, but the typing experience is not perfect for me, as well. Still, I love my ereaders and prefer it to kindle
